Liberty Blue appoints KR to provide classification services

Client news

Korean Register (KR) – an IACS member classification society – has signed an agreement with Liberty Blue, a Leer-based German shipping company to provide classification services to the company.

KR has had an office in Hamburg, Germany for 20 years and opened a new office in Frankfurt earlier this year. Liberty Blue is a new customer and will take the classification society’s full, comprehensive range of services including the ISM code, the ISPS code, the MLC Convention, EU-MRV (monitoring, reporting and verification) and KR-CON.

Liberty Blue Shipmanagement GmbH & CO. KG is a ship management company which brings together medium-sized ship management companies, their fleets and maritime service providers, merging expertise to create strong and successful alliances.

As one of the world’s leading classification societies, KR offers a wide range of specialist services through its rules and standards to the shipping and ship building industries as well as many industrial clients in Germany and around the world.

KR was chosen because of the quality of its technical services and the opportunities it offered Liberty Blue to expand and grow its business in Asian markets.

Dietrich Schulz, General Manager Liberty Blue said;
“We are delighted to have  a new working  partner and we believe that KR can become our eyes and ears for the Asian markets. KR has proved their experience in several areas and we are looking forward to a long-term cooperation.”

Michael Suhr, Technical and Commercial Director, KR added;
We are pleased that Liberty Blue has chosen KR to provide these key technical services to its fleet.  We will work together to support Liberty Blue’s client relationships, enhancing the efficiencies and quick response expertise available to Liberty Blue’s global fleet”.

KR was accredited as a verifier for the provision of EU-MRV services by Germany's national verification body DAkkS earlier this year. As the number of its clients increase for this service, KR is committed to providing transparent, fair and impartial advice, and delivering a quick turnaround for urgent assessment and verification requests.
