LOC launches specialist yacht services to meet demand

The international marine and engineering consultancy LOC Group is boosting its range of services for modern and classic large yachts to meet increasing demand from the sector.
LOC already provides a range of global yacht services such as H&M surveys, expert advice in litigation, transport, newbuild disputes, condition surveys, and the coordination of detailed evaluations, but the enhanced service division is now led by Edward Wollaston, Shipping Technical Director, who has many years of experience supervising yacht build and design.
Ed Wollaston says; "Our vision is to be the global provider of choice for yacht consultancy services. LOC has many, many years of experience of working with super yacht owners, who often require a specific type of service. We have this specialist knowledge and expertise and are used to supporting owners and insurers following an accident, collision or damage to a yacht in transit and as a result, the demand for our yacht service is increasing”.
Andrew Squire, Group Deputy Chairman adds; “This move actually formalises the ad hoc services that we have offered for some time. We will now develop and expand our range of Yacht services, ensuring that our offices around the world can tap into this expertise to deliver a consistent but tailored service to each client, whatever their requirements and wherever they are”.
LOC’s global office network means that the superyacht team can respond quickly to an incident or request for help wherever the yacht is located. Obvious hubs for super yachts include Europe, the Middle East and Australia, but LOC’s professional specialists provide services and expertise wherever its needed.
Ed Wollaston adds: “Our team includes experienced seafarers, maritime research analysts, ex-classification professionals, engineering and design contractors from across the shipping and yacht world. Because of our shipping expertise we have the latest and most advanced software, ready to assess stability, structures, motions, manoeuvring and vessel performance for newbuilds, conversions and repairs.
“We can also advise on a wide range of operational issues from ballast water management to bunkers, vibration analysis and planned maintenance. We have worked with this sector for a long time, but as demand grows we have appointed new regional coordinators to maximise the service provision we can offer.”
