Standard Club’s 10th Greek Shipping Tennis Tournament raises funds for Ark of the World

On 6-8 May, The Standard Club, a global mutual protection & indemnity insurer, held its 10th Greek Shipping Tennis Tournament event in Vari, Greece.  The ever-popular event attracted a record 121 participants from 76 different shipping companies to play tennis in more than 100 matches.

Philip Stephenson, Regional Director said: “As ever our tennis tournament was a great success, but this year it has been particularly special to reconnect with many old friends from across the industry after two years of global pandemic.”

The event raised €2762.10 for the Ark of the World, a charitable non-profit organisation providing special care and protection to mothers and children in Greece.

The tournament was followed by an evening reception and awards ceremony on Thursday 12 May held at Island Private House on the Athens Riviera. The event was attended by 220 guests from 71 shipping companies and included speeches, the awards presentations, industry networking and dancing.

The Standard Club has had an office in Greece for more than 20 years, originally in Piraeus, the team relocated to Vouliagmeni earlier this year. Greece is the single largest country of management for Standard Club and continues to grow.
