Bill began his career as a navigating officer cadet with P&O Steam Navigation Company. After qualifying as a third mate, he worked as a shipbroker in the City of London. He then completed a BA (Economics) from London University (SOAS) and an MBA (Finance) from Cass Business School. Subsequently, Bill led corporate, financial and brand communications for a number of multinational companies and served on the management boards of both Guinness and Cunard Line. He is also a former non-executive director of the Maritime Association of the Port of New York and New Jersey (USA), and is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute.
